Marius Balčytis graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music in 1994, with R.Valančius. After he continued master studies in Malmo Academy of Music (1995-1997) with Prof. Jan Mortensen and Per Kristian Svensen , as well , in Chicago (1999).M. Balčytis is a prize winner of two national young performers competitions(1985,1987), Yamaha Competition (1994). Since 1993, he has worked in the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO). As a soloist he appeared with LNSO, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, Riga Wind Orchestra, „TRIMITAS“ Wind Orchestra,and the Guard of Honour Orchestra. In 1998, he formed brass ensemble „Vilniaus Brass“, whos leader he still today. Since 2002, he has collaborated with ensemble „Gaida“. He is teaching at M.K.Čiurlionis School of Art and Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
